Ngoài ra ông cũng được biết đến với vai trò giải quyết các đơn thư khiếu nại của người dân, đặc biệt về vấn đề đất đai. Ông cho rằng hiện nay vấn đề giải quyết đơn thư khiếu nại người dân của cấp thẩm quyền còn nặng nề về hình thức, thậm chí im lặng.<sup id="cite_ref-vnn_4-0"></sup> Ông đánh giá việc làm đại biểu quốc hội là một công việc dễ va chạm. Về việc này ông cũng từng bị một lãnh đạo Bộ Văn hóa - Thông tin phản ứng khi chất vấn về vấn đề quản lý sách tham khảo.<sup id="cite_ref-vnn_4-1"></sup> Ông là một trong số các đại biểu đã lên tiếng phản đối các dự án thu hút nhiều quan tâm của dư luận trong và ngoài nước gần đây như Dự án khai thác bô xít ở Tây Nguyên, các Dự án cho nước ngoài thuê rừng và nổi bật năm 2010 là Dự án Đường sắt cao tốc Bắc Nam. <h5>Điều tra vụ Vinashin</h5> Ngày 11/11/2010 Ủy ban Thường vụ Quốc hội đã ra công văn bác bỏ đề xuất thành lập Ủy ban lâm thời điều tra trách nhiệm trong vụ Vinashin do ĐBQH Nguyễn Minh Thuyết trực tiếp đề xuất với lý do hiện đang có sự tham gia của các cơ quan của Đảng và Nhà nước trong việc tiến hành điều tra Vinashin.Trả lời về việc này, ông cho rằng việc trả lời của Ủy ban Thường vụ Quốc hội chỉ sau 9 ngày nhận kiến nghị so với thời hạn 30 ngày là khá nhanh<sup id="cite_ref-7"></sup>. Ông cũng đã mạnh mẽ kêu gọi việc tạm đình chỉ chức vụ của các cá nhân liên quan trong việc làm ăn thua lỗ, thất thoát ngân sách nhà nước hàng nghìn tỷ đồng của Vinashin trong một buổi tranh luận được truyền hình trực tiếp. Một số báo chí nước ngoài như The Associated Press tỏ ra lo ngại ông có thể bị trừng phạt sau việc đề xuất này<sup id="cite_ref-8"></sup>. Ngày 11 tháng 11 năm 2010, báo Công an Nhân dân và website chính thức của chính phủ Việt Nam đăng một bài viết chỉ trích một số đại biểu Quốc hội "muốn lạm dụng diễn đàn...lợi dụng dân chủ để đưa ra những nhận định hay thông tin còn chưa được kiểm chứng hoặc về những lĩnh vực không phải chuyên môn sâu của mình...gây nên những dư luận không tốt trong xã hội" Mặc dù bài viết không nêu tên đại biểu nào, người ta có thể hiểu đối tượng đó là Nguyễn Minh Thuyế<sup id="cite_ref-9"></sup>. <h5>Quan điểm</h5> Về tự do báo chí ở Việt Nam khi bàn về Dự thảo Luật báo chí năm 2015: <em>"Ở hầu hết các nước, báo chí chủ yếu là của tư nhân và trên thực tế, chưa có trường hợp nào báo chí trở thành mối nguy hiểm đối với các chính thể “của dân, do dân, vì dân"</em>

Trần Đình Thiên sinh ngày 31 tháng 1 năm 1958 tại xã Quỳnh Lập, huyện Quỳnh Lưu, tỉnh Nghệ An, nay là xã Quỳnh Lập, thị xã Hoàng Mai, tỉnh Nghệ An.<sup id="cite_ref-4"></sup> Năm 1979, ông tốt nghiệp cử nhân khóa 1, Khoa Kinh tế, Đại học Tổng hợp Hà Nội (nay là trường Đại học Kinh tế, Đại học Quốc gia Hà Nội), chuyên ngành Kinh tế học Chính trị. Năm 1991, ông nhận học vị Tiến sĩ Kinh tế học Chính trị tại Viện Kinh tế học, Viện Hàn lâm Khoa học Liên Xô. Năm 2002, ông được phong học hàm Phó giáo sư. Ngày 17 tháng 6 năm 2016, Thủ tướng Nguyễn Xuân Phúc ký Quyết định 1079/QĐ-TTg thành lập Hội đồng Tư vấn chính sách tài chính, tiền tệ Quốc gia. PGS.TS. Trần Đình Thiên là một trong các Ủy viên của Hội đồng này<sup id="cite_ref-5"></sup>. Ngày 28 tháng 7 năm 2017, Tổ Tư vấn kinh tế của Thủ tướng Chính phủ Việt Nam Nguyễn Xuân Phúc nhiệm kì 2016-2021 được thành lập theo Quyết định 1120/QĐ-TTg, ông là một trong 15 thành viên.<sup id="cite_ref-7"></sup> Ngày 13 tháng 6 năm 2018, Ông được bầu làm Phó Tổ trường thường trực của Tổ tư vấn Kinh tế - Xã hội của Tỉnh Nghệ An theo Quyết định 2385/QĐ-UBND do Chủ tịch UBND tỉnh Nguyễn Xuân Đường ký ngày 13/06/2018. Kinh nghiệm giải quyết tranh chấp:</em></strong> <ul> <li>Đã tham gia tranh tụng bào chữa cho các bị cáo, bảo vệ quyền lợi hợp pháp cho các ngân hàng, doanh nghiệp trong hàng trăm vụ án kinh tế, dân sự, hình sự tại tất cả các cấp Tòa án, trong đó có các đại án ngân hàng như Nguyễn Đức Kiên (Bầu Kiên – ACB), Huỳnh Thị Huyền Như (Vietinbank),…</li> <li>Đã tham gia với tư cách Chủ tịch và thành viên Hội đồng Trọng tài, luật sư giải quyết hàng chục vụ tranh chấp về: Bảo hiểm; đầu tư; đấu thầu; hợp tác kinh doanh, góp vốn; mua bán, thuê bất động sản; thanh toán; xây dựng; vận chuyển, v.v..</li> </ul> <strong><em>5. Nghiên cứu và giảng dạy:</em></strong> <ul> <li>Là một trong những nhà nghiên cứu, phản biện tích cực, thực tế, sâu sắc và hiệu quả nhất về các vấn đề pháp lý tài chính, ngân hàng theo đánh giá của VCCI và Bộ Tư pháp. Vì vậy, Ls. Trương Thanh Đức đã được mời tham gia một số đề tài nghiên cứu khoa học cấp Bộ; tham gia Hội đồng thẩm định nhiều Luật và Nghị định như Luật Công chứng năm 2006, Luật Bảo hiểm tiền gửi năm 2012, Luật Nhà ở năm 2014, Luật Kinh doanh bất động sản năm 2014, Bộ luật Dân sự năm 2015; Luật sửa đổi, bổ sung Luật Các tổ chức tín dụng năm 2017,…</li> <li>Là tác giả 03 cuốn sách đều của NXB Chính trị Quốc gia Sự thật (đã in tổng cộng hơn 17.000 cuốn):</li> </ul> <ul> <li> <ul> <li>“Kinh doanh sành luật” (Ứng dụng Luật Doanh nghiệp 2020 & quy định liên quan) (trước đây là “Luận giải về Luật Doanh nghiệp”), xuất bản 12-2016, đã tái bản & in lại lần thứ 8 tháng 4-2023 (524 trang khổ 16 x 24);</li> <li>“9 biện pháp bảo đảm nghĩa vụ hợp đồng” (Quy định, thực tế và thiết kế giao dịch theo Bộ luật Dân sự), xuất bản 10-2017, đã tái bản & in lại lần thứ 8 tháng 12-2022 (606 trang);</li> <li>“Cẩm nang pháp luật ngân hàng” (Nhận diện những vấn đề pháp lý)”, xuất bản 5-2020, đã tái bản & in lại lần thứ 3 tháng 12-2021 (626 trang khổ 16 x 24 cm).</li> </ul> </li> <li>Đồng tác giả một số cuốn sách như: <ul> <li>“Cẩm nang Hợp đồng thương mại” của VIAC, NXB Lao động 2010.</li> <li>“Giáo trình Kỹ năng tư vấn pháp luật cho doanh nghiệp” (phần chuyên sâu) của Học viện Tư pháp, NXB Tư pháp năm 2016.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Đã tham gia hàng trăm buổi giảng pháp luật kinh tế, ngân hàng tại Học viện Tư pháp, Liên đoàn Luật sư Việt Nam, Viện Đại học Mở Hà Nội cũng như nhiều doanh nghiệp và trường đại học khác.</li> <li>Đã hiện diện trên 8.000 lượt bài báo, tham luận, phỏng vấn và trích dẫn trong các loại hình báo chí như VTV1, VOV1, VITV, Thời báo Kinh tế Sài Gòn, Vietnamnet,…</li> </ul> <strong><em>6.
